Baby Alpaca Born!

Baby Alpaca Born - November 2011

"The cutest thing we've ever seen", says the Mohawk office, who go visit every day at lunch.

Jet black, our little alpaca came as a complete surprise.  Even Mohawk's vet didn't see that the dam (female alpaca) was pregnant!

Take a look...

Our campers are coming up with names - we're getting lots of email suggestions!

Introducing....SkyTrails!

Mohawk's newest only-slightly-over-the-top adventure activity!

SkyTrails allows up to 15 campers to explore a world of adventure 14 feet off the ground. Because they're tethered in, campers can work on challenges at their own pace, individually or with friends.

Here are some pictures of SkyTrail being built.  We'll have campers up in the air trying it soon!

Fun from Summer 2011!

Thank you so much to all our staff, campers, and camp families who made Summer 2011 one of Mohawk's best yet! (And that's not just us bragging - we are proud that many parents and kids have said this to us!)

In Summer 2011, kids learned new skills, made new friends and deepened existing friendships, and stretched themselves physically, intellectually and creatively -- all while having LOADS of fun. We're already busily planning for Summer 2012, with even more activities and expanded facilities for kids to enjoy. Stay tuned!

Olympic Skater Johnny Weir at Mohawk!

Olympic Ice Skater Johnny Weir stopped by Mohawk recently to try out "iSkate," our new all-weather, year-round synthetic ice rink. He showed off some impressive moves, and even skated with some of our campers!

April News

Mohawk emphasizes creativity and a "can do" attitude with our campers and staff. So when we came up with the idea of ice skating at camp (yes, ice skating!), someone asked, "But...why?" And we replied...... "Why not!?" We are thrilled to announce that later this month, our brand new year-round synthetic ice skating rink will be unveiled!

The first of its kind at a summer camp, we are so excited to "cut the ribbon" on Mohawk's latest addition. This summer, Mohawk's campers will be able to add ICE SKATING to their list of exciting and varied camp activities. We'll provide the skates and the lessons -- you bring yourself and get ready to have fun!

We can't wait to show off this new facility, and look forward to watching kids of all ages have fun and build confidence as they skate and glide all summer long.

February/March News

Below, read about just some of what will be new at Mohawk this year:

Camper Play Village

Towels, Towels & More Towels

Because you requested it! It’s simple: less laundry time = more time for summer fun! This summer, Mohawk will be providing swim towels for every camper, each and every day of camp!

Super Soccer Stars joins Mohawk's Sports Specialists

Mohawk is revamping many of our already renowned sports programs to add a whole new level of creative dynamism that will make developing skills even more fun!

As part of our commitment to provide the highest-quality instruction in a comfortable and less competitive environment, we have reached out to
Super Soccer Stars to lead our soccer program, one of Mohawk's most popular sports. We are excited to have them joining our fabulous specialists in tennis, football, baseball, softball, golf, hockey, basketball, gymnastics, dance, martial arts and so much more!

Real skating! Real skates! Synthetic ice!

Every year, I search high and low for activities that one would never, ever expect to find at camp. And wow, did I find one! Barbara and I traveled to an amusement park conference this winter, and “ice” skated on a silicon/carbon polymer rink. Much like the Mohawk Express train, it was just too much fun not to get one for camp. So, using real ice skates (and, of course, protective gear), campers will be skating like the pros this summer. Really. The Florida Panthers Hockey Team practices on the same “ice”!

Camper Play Village

This spring, campers and parents will have the chance to name Mohawk’s newest activity area – a miniature play village complete with general store, firehouse, stables, and more! Kids’ imaginations will be inspired as they play and explore in this fun – and perfectly kid-sized – environment.

And, we can't wait to tell you about the new, innovative Creative Arts activities we're planning, exciting additional Farm & Nature activities, amazing new Electives...all to be featured in upcoming camp news.

A HUGE thanks to Brad Magill and his team at Cove Creek Productions for creating this incredible website for us. He has worked tirelessly for months to bring our Mohawk families -- current and future -- the best possible "virtual home" for all things Mohawk! And many, many thanks to the wonderful photographers who provided us with so many incredible photos: Tim Coffey, Irvin Simon, and Victoria Jackson (who's also a camp mom!).

We would LOVE to hear your feedback about our new site. Please email us at info@campmohawk.com with your thoughts. And keep checking back for new additions, photo galleries and more from The Mohawk Team!
