Nature and the FarmWhether learning about chinchillas, turtles or iguanas at either of our two Nature Centers, or sheep, goats, piglets or peacocks at our on-site farm, campers have an unrivaled opportunity to study animals and the environment at camp. Mohawk's campsite began as a farm more than 150 years ago, and we retain a nostalgic charm with authentic farmhouses, stone walls, a grape arbor, an apple orchard and some of the most spectacular trees in the area. And no farm experience would be complete without our weekly Pony Rides and Hay Rides for younger campers.
Ropes
At our new Ropes Course, children work either individually or in teams to meet all types of innovative challenges. Campers learn teamwork, trust, independence and creative problem solving under the guidance and supervision of a mature, highly trained staff. Examples of activities are Zip Lines, Climbing Walls, Balance Logs, Wires and a Cargo net.
Mohawk has two separate computer centers. One is designed especially for 5 and 6 year olds, and the other is for older campers, both centers use iMacs. As with tennis, campers 7 and older with a strong interest in computers can have more exposure in our Elective Program.
All groups at Mohawk have option times during which campers can choose from a variety of activities. Children entering 2nd grade and older participate in our formal elective program. They can select traditional camp activities such as sports, crafts, computers, tennis, gymnastics, or unique activities like magic, balloon animals, cartooning, or advanced sports skills. Campers fill their daily elective period with selections that change from week to week.
Special Days add excitement, spirit and creative sparkle to our program. Whether it is building huts on Gilligan's Island Day, discovering gold on Wild West Day, Trick-or-Treating in July, our spectacular 2 day Camp Carnival in August, or dressing up for a Black Tie Banquet, campers love being part of the surprises, fun and fantasy that make up Mohawk's Special Days!
