Happy Camper Guarantee

We’re committed to the happiness of our campers and we are ready to deliver the special attention that first-time campers require. We are so confident that your camper will have a GREAT experience at Mohawk Day Camp that we offer our “Happy Camper Guarantee.” We offer a pro-rated refund to any family that wishes to unenroll their first-time camper prior to the conclusion of their registered sessions. You can camp with confidence at Mohawk Day Camp.

Group Leader & Division Leader

Each group of campers is led by a group leader – typically a teacher, parent, or college graduate with previous experience working with children. The group leader is given special training to help new campers acclimate to Mohawk and make new camp friends. The group leader is overseen and mentored by a division leader – a seasoned educator with Mohawk leadership experience that is assigned to a particular age group.

Communication

Mohawk360° is our custom-built platform that gives families everything they need to stay connected and easily communicate with Mohawk Day Camp in real time using your mobile phone. Every Mohawk family has access to a campcierge – that’s our version of a concierge with a camp twist – to personally assist you with all of your camp needs.  For more information, visit our Communication page.

Welcome Day

Camp Welcome Day is a wonderful opportunity for campers to become familiar with our facilities and staff before camp begins. In addition to fun-filled camp activities, families have the opportunity to meet their head counselor, campcierge, and leadership staff; pick up their backpack and apparel; receive your group schedule; review medications with the nurse; and discuss dietary concerns or food allergies with the allergy specialist.

FAQs

What if my child has severe allergies and/or an Epi-Pen?2020-03-15T22:58:12+00:00

Many parents choose Mohawk specifically because of the precautions we take to protect children with allergies. Our dedicated allergy specialist monitors the lunch and snacks of each camper with allergies, working closely with the head counselor to ensure every meal is carefully reviewed before it is given to the camper. Mohawk never compromises when it comes to the safety of our campers.

Mohawk Day Camp is a “nut aware” facility, serving only food that is free of tree nuts, peanuts, and nut oils and were manufactured in nut-free facilities. The allergy specialist inspects every shipment of ingredients received by our kitchen to ensure these requirements are maintained. Outside food is not allowed to be brought on campus by campers or staff.

Epi-Pens are managed and administered by our Health Center team. Parents can provide an additional Epi-Pen for traveling on the camp bus.

Are the camp buses air-conditioned? Do they have car seats?2020-04-29T14:27:54+00:00

YES! All of our buses are air-conditioned with seatbelts and staffed by a Mohawk staff person. In accordance with NY state regulations, Mohawk Day Camp will provide a car seat for campers under four years of age and less than 40 lbs. Campers between the ages of four and eight that are assigned to vehicles smaller than a school bus will be provided with a booster seat (boosters are not permitted on school buses). For more information, view our transportation page.

What if my child is a “picky” eater?2020-03-15T22:58:12+00:00

Mohawk’s varied and nutritious meals, which include one cook-out and one pizza day a week, are planned by our chefs with children’s tastes in mind. In the event that your child is a picky eater, we always have plenty of other options. Head Counselors serve lunch daily to ensure that every child finds something that he or she likes, including one of our many daily alternative choices such as sandwiches, yogurt, bagels and pasta!

What if I need to bring my camper in late, or want to pick up early?2020-03-15T22:58:12+00:00

No problem! Just let our office know and we’d be happy to make the necessary arrangements for your camper.

Does Mohawk Day Camp have a uniform?2020-03-15T22:58:12+00:00

Mohawk does not have a required camp uniform, however we do provide campers with a Mohawk backpack and camp apparel. We ask that campers wear their Mohawk T-shirt on picture day.

Can my child be placed in the same group as a friend?2021-10-14T19:52:39+00:00

Campers may request to be grouped with up to two other campers within the same group. An important reason for coming to Mohawk is the joy of making new friends! Campers in the same group will spend most of their day together.
