Lower Camp

Entering Kindergarden and First Grade

Campers in our Lower Camp program enjoy a fresh array of exciting activities, electives and special events designed just for them.
Campers’ days are filled with a balance of swim (twice daily), sports, creative arts, performing arts, nature and adventure activities. Every activity mixes fun with high-quality instruction that is tailored to each child’s individual needs and developmental level. Every Middle Camp group is led by a highly qualified Head Counselor, nearly always a teacher, who is chosen for his or her leadership ability and spirited camp personality. A Head Counselor supervises only one group, including a team of four General Counselors, and is with that group throughout the day.

In Middle Camp, campers develop independence by beginning to choose activities. As campers grow, they select more and more of what they do at camp, and the assortment of choices expands as well.

And what would camp be without special days?! Middle Campers have a host of over-the-top Special Days. Our staff prepare new surprises every year, from Pirate, Rock Star and Wild West Days, to Prehistoric Adventures, where campers “excavate” dinosaur bones and The Great Mohawk Treasure Hunt, where campers build teamwork through solving mysteries and seeking “fortunes.” And of course, there is Mohawk’s spectacular, season-ending Carnival (and if you don’t know what Wampum is yet, just wait!).
